On December 5, the 2024 China Textile Conference, themed “Advancing with Reform, Weaving a Splendid New Chapter”, was held in Keqiao District, Shaoxing. Zhang Xuewei, Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended and delivered congratulatory remarks. Pakistani Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, was also in attendance.
Keynote speeches were delivered by Shi Huifang, Secretary of the CPC Shaoxing Municipal Committee; He Yaqiong, Director General of the Department of Consumer Goods Industry under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT); Cao Chuanzhen, Deputy Director General of the Department of Industrial Development of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC); and Li Weizheng, Deputy Director General of the Department of Market System Development of the Ministry of Commerce. Sun Ruizhe, President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), delivered the keynote report.
Academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, including Zhu Meifang, Yu Jianyong, Chen Wenxing, and Xu Weilin, also attended the conference, alongside local leaders Ma Guocan and Lu Xiaguang.
Zhang Xuewei extended his congratulations on the successful hosting of the 2024 China Textile Conference. He emphasized that the textile industry is not only vital to people’s livelihoods but also an important vehicle for cultural heritage. Zhejiang boasts a rich textile history, and Keqiao, Shaoxing, is home to the country’s most complete textile industrial chain, strongest production capacity, and largest specialized textile market.
In recent years, the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Government have prioritized the development of the modern textile and apparel industry, identifying it as one of the four trillion-level industrial clusters. This strategic focus has achieved notable progress. Currently, the province is thoroughly implementing the guiding principles from President Xi Jinping’s recent inspection tour of Zhejiang, accelerating the construction of an innovative Zhejiang, and fostering the development of new quality productive forces adapted to local conditions. The province aims to enhance high-level openness and build itself into a high-capacity hub of global cooperation.
Zhang added that Zhejiang will continue to implement the decisions of the Central Committee and the State Council, driven by digital reform and guided by national strategies. The province will promote deep integration between innovation and industry chains and fully support the growth and transformation of the textile industry in Keqiao and across Shaoxing. The goal is to build a world-class, modern textile manufacturing cluster and contribute a “Zhejiang model” to the national drive toward manufacturing excellence.
On behalf of the CPC Shaoxing Municipal Committee and the municipal government, Shi Huifang welcomed the leaders and guests attending the conference. He highlighted that Shaoxing has vigorously implemented five major strategies—Tech-Driven Textile, Digital Textile, Cultural Textile, Green Textile, and Open Textile—leveraging its core advantages in industry, market, and innovation. This has paved a new path for integrated development across the industrial, innovation, digital, and market chains.
Looking ahead, Shaoxing will seize the opportunity of new industrialization, strive to lead in new quality productive forces, and advance the transformation of its textile industry toward fashion, high-end development, brand-building, digital intelligence, green practices, and global integration. The city aims to become a global headquarters for the textile industry, a source of creative design, a pioneer in new industrial models, and a key hub for trade and exhibitions. Shaoxing looks forward to deepening cooperation with partners across the country to collectively create a bright future for China’s textile industry.
The conference featured expert reports, experience-sharing sessions, and cooperation signing ceremonies. Several parallel forums and meetings were also held during the event.
