The “Lanting,” known worldwide due to Wang Xizhi’s Lantingji Xu (Preface to the Orchid Pavilion), is a name deeply embedded in the history of calligraphy. Today, in this revered place of calligraphy, a resort district aiming to create a national-level cultural and tourism integration development demonstration zone is under rapid construction.
This resort area covers five towns and streets: Lanting, Lizhu, Pingshui, Wangtan, and Jidong. In recent years, leveraging its abundant historical sites and exceptional ecological resources, the district has developed a high-standard industrial development plan. The region aims to organically integrate Ancient Yue culture, Yangming culture, calligraphy culture, and modern cultural tourism. The focus remains on three key industries: agricultural cultural tourism, health and wellness, and green intelligent manufacturing, all aimed at creating a “world-class Lanting IP.”
Recently, a full-media interview group from Shaoxing City News Media Center visited the Shaoxing Lanting Cultural Tourism Resort to explore the reverberations of Lanting through the ages.
Entering the Kaiyuan Guantang Hotel development area, the site is already leveled, and construction is about to begin. “The hotel is positioned as a four-star hotel, and once completed, it will meet the needs of leisure tourism, business meetings, and more,” said Wu Chengliang, project manager. The choice of Lanting for the hotel’s location is driven by the area’s rich cultural heritage and growing industrial momentum.
Like the Kaiyuan Hotel Group, many projects influenced by the cultural and industrial factors of the Lanting Resort have emerged. Since the beginning of this year, 15 major projects have been signed, covering areas such as cultural tourism, wellness, green intelligent manufacturing, and agricultural sightseeing.
The remarkable achievements in investment attraction are due to meticulous planning. In May 2019, the Shaoxing Lanting Cultural Tourism Resort was officially established. With the goal of creating a national-level cultural tourism integration demonstration zone, the area has formulated a “1+4” industrial system, focusing on the expansion of cultural tourism, leisure, and wellness industries, refining fashion textile and cultural creative industries, and strengthening green intelligent manufacturing and modern services. It has intensified efforts to attract projects and explore paths for leapfrog development.
In recent years, the resort district has deepened its project efforts, strengthened the integration of cultural tourism, and improved its platform capabilities. It has introduced large-scale cultural tourism projects like the Ruoye Tonggu Town and built Shaoxing’s largest zoo, the Lanting Forest Animal Kingdom. In 2023, it was approved by the Zhejiang provincial government as a provincial-level tourism resort area.
This July, the district’s first power grid-side energy storage project—the Pingshui Xinglan 110kV energy storage station—was successfully connected to the grid. “New energy storage acts like a ‘super battery.’ It stores power during off-peak hours and discharges during peak hours. It can charge and discharge 150,000 kWh at a time, with an annual output of 50 million kWh,” said Sun Tianshu, deputy project manager.
With the continuous introduction of new projects and the ongoing gathering of new industries, the resort district’s direction for complementary development has become clearer, ensuring steady economic progress.
At the Shaoxing Second Hospital Lanting Branch (Rehabilitation Hospital) construction site, the main structure of the modern hospital has already been completed, and workers are busy with the entrance hall. The project, with a total investment of approximately 2.89 billion yuan, is being built to the standards of a tertiary comprehensive hospital (with rehabilitation hospital functions). The hospital is expected to have 1,200 beds and is slated for completion by the end of this year. Once operational, it will provide more convenient medical services to local residents and offer strong support for building the resort’s wellness industry.
In November last year, the Lanting Resort announced the urban design plans for the Pingshui and Lanting new towns, which form an integral part of the area’s overall development.
Healthcare and education are essential for urban development. In the resort district, the only “agriculture” vocational college in Zhejiang—Zhejiang Agricultural and Commercial Vocational College Kuaiji Mountain Campus—is under construction. “The first phase of nine buildings has completed the main structure, and interior painting is underway, with about 30% of the decoration completed,” said Xia Hongbo, deputy director of the college’s infrastructure department. The campus is expected to welcome its first batch of students in September next year, providing skilled talent for the region.
With its unique cultural heritage, the Lanting Resort aims to provide a rich cultural and tourism experience. The Lanting Resort Tourism Distribution Center is continuously being renovated to offer services such as dining and transportation. “We will create a comprehensive cultural tourism complex that integrates a cultural tourism incubation center and a visitor service center,” said Wang Bin, the project manager of the center. This will serve as a window to showcase Lanting culture, allowing more visitors to get closer to Lanting, understand its history, and appreciate its cultural significance.
Key land acquisition projects in areas such as the Linshao and Pingtong blocks are progressing steadily, with demolition work yielding impressive results, creating space for future projects. Since its establishment, the resort has completed 1.1 million square meters of demolition and developed 2,417 acres of land, with 1,221 acres of land already transferred.
A vibrant vision for Lanting’s cultural tourism, combined with the Lanting and Pingshui new towns and the Southern Beautiful Rural Belt, is gradually unfolding.
Over 2,600 years ago, King Goujian of Yue planted orchids beneath Lianzhushan Mountain, planting the roots of Ancient Yue culture. More than 1,600 years ago, Wang Xizhi and 42 scholars gathered by the stream to compose poetry, leading to the flourishing of calligraphy culture. In the long course of history, Lanting has nurtured a rich and diverse local culture.
Today, with its unparalleled cultural resources, Lanting is focused on meeting the needs of the new era, promoting cultural prosperity, and spreading its fame worldwide.
“By focusing on potential, protection, and development, we aim to create a ‘world-class Lanting IP,’ advancing the entire cultural tourism industry to a new level, forming a ‘long tail effect,’ and increasing brand recognition and influence,” said Chen Yuefang, Deputy Director of the Lanting Resort Management Committee. The district is adopting an integrated approach, combining resources from the five towns and streets, creating a cultural tourism highland for an immersive experience.
At the Lanting Orchid Museum project site located on the west slope of Lianzhushan Mountain, preparations for construction have been completed, and construction will begin after bidding. “The museum is adjacent to the Shaoxing Flower Market. It has a planned total investment of 250 million yuan and will build ‘one museum, multiple centers,’ with the first phase focusing on the main building. The second phase will feature an orchid research center, cultural creative center, digital transaction center, and public brand center,” said the project manager, Pei Zeming. Once completed, the museum will inject significant energy into the orchid industry’s upgrade.
With numerous historical relics, every brick and tile in the Lanting Resort tells a story, and the mountains and rivers are filled with narratives. Focusing on Ancient Yue culture, the resort is planning to create a Yue cultural heritage park, while advancing the construction of archaeological sites such as the Yinshi Yue Kingdom Tomb and Pingshui Yue Kingdom Nobility Tombs to ensure the continuity of the Ancient Yue cultural lineage. In the field of calligraphy culture, the Lanting Chinese Calligraphy Village, Calligraphy Hall, and Calligraphy Greenway projects are on the horizon, continuing to shine a spotlight on Lanting as the “Holy Land of Calligraphy.”
The creation of a “world-class Lanting IP” involves not only making Lanting’s landscapes visible but also sharing Lanting’s stories with the world. By collaborating with local towns and streets, the resort district organizes cultural tourism festivals such as the Xiang Yue Mei Hai Cultural Tourism Festival and Zhuang Xie Ancient Village Cultural Tourism Festival to promote cultural exchange. Notably, during the 3rd China Spring Orchid Festival in February, a series of “central-local cooperation” efforts attracted widespread attention, gaining significant media coverage on more than 20 national platforms.
Over 1,600 years ago, Lanting’s clear skies and pleasant winds attracted scholars and poets, creating the famed Orchid Pavilion Gathering. Today, Lanting is accelerating the creation of a city with “a more beautiful environment, revitalized culture, more developed industries, and happier lives,” with a focus on building the most culturally rich resort district and creating a new era Lanting Gathering.

如今，在这书法圣地，一个以打造国家级文旅融合发展示范区为目标的度假区正在火热建设中。度假区覆盖和辐射兰亭、漓渚、平水、王坛、稽东5个镇街，近年来，依托星罗棋布的历史遗存和得天独厚的生态资源优势，高规格完善产业发展规划，将古越文化、阳明文化、书法文化与现代文旅有机融合，在农文旅、康养、绿色智能制造三大产业持续发力，蓄力打响“世界级兰亭IP”。
近日，绍兴市新闻传媒中心全媒体采访团深入绍兴市兰亭文化旅游度假区，探寻兰亭穿越千年的回响。
走进开元观堂酒店开发区块，只见现场已平整完毕，即将开工。“酒店定位为四星级，建成后可满足旅游休闲、商务洽谈等多种需求。”酒店项目负责人吴成樑说，之所以选址兰亭，看中的就是这里的文化底蕴和日益强劲的产业动能。
与开元酒店集团一样，受兰亭度假区文化与产业影响而来的项目有不少。今年以来，已累计签约15个重点项目，涵盖文旅休闲、生命康养、绿色智造、观光农业等领域。
招商成绩亮眼，离不开精心谋划。2019年5月，绍兴市兰亭文化旅游度假区挂牌成立。锚定创建国家级文旅融合示范区的目标，制定“1+4”特色产业体系（即以做大文旅休闲康养产业为核心，做精时尚纺织服饰产业和文化创意产业，做强绿色智造产业和现代服务业），加大项目招引力度，探索跨越发展之路。
这些年来，度假区深化项目攻坚、做实文旅融合、提升平台能级，引进了百亿级文旅项目若耶·铜谷小镇，建起了绍兴最大动物园兰亭森林动物王国。2023年，经浙江省政府批复，被设立为省级旅游度假区。
今年7月，柯桥首个电网侧储能项目——平水星兰110千伏储能电站顺利并网。“新型储能就像一个‘超级充电宝’，谷时段蓄电，峰时段放电，一次可充放电15万千瓦时，一年预计可达5000万千瓦时。”项目副经理孙天舒说。
随着新项目的不断引进、新产业的持续集聚，度假区错位互补发展的新方向进一步明晰，推动经济稳步向前。
在绍兴二院兰亭院区（康复医院）施工现场，一座现代化的医院主体已然建成，工人们正在门厅内忙碌着。
该项目总投资约28.9亿元，按照三级综合性医院（兼顾三级康复医院功能）标准建设，预设床位1200张，预计今年年底交付。医院建成后，将为周边居民提供更加方便的医疗服务，也为兰亭度假区打造大康养产业提供有力支持。
据了解，去年11月，兰亭度假区公布了平水和兰亭两座新城的城市设计方案，绍兴二院兰亭院区（康复医院）项目便是新图景的有机组成部分。
病有良医，学有优教。教育和医疗，都是城市化发展最重要的配套设施。度假区里，省内唯一一所“农”字号高职院校——浙江农业商贸职业学院会稽山校区项目也正在火热建设中。“目前一期项目的9幢房子已经完成主体建设，正在进行室内粉刷，装修进度已完成约30%。”浙江农业商贸职业学院基建处副处长夏洪波说，明年9月，这里将迎来一批年轻的面孔，一批批技能人才也将从这里走出。
以飞檐之“字”，启稽麓之“门”；以流觞之“境”，展兰亭之“秀”。为游客提供餐饮、交通等服务的兰亭度假区旅游集散中心正一天天“焕新”。“我们将在度假区内打造一个集文旅孵化中心和游客服务中心为一体的文旅综合体。”兰亭度假区旅游集散中心项目负责人王斌说，这里将成为展示兰亭文化的窗口，让更多游客通过这里走近兰亭、认识兰亭、了解兰亭。
临绍区块、平铜区块等重点区域征地工作稳步推进，兰福大道“拔钉”顺利清零……兰亭度假区“攻坚清零、清障拔钉”拆迁工作交出一张张高分答卷，为项目落地腾出空间、为城市更新保驾护航。据统计，度假区成立至今，累计完成拆迁110万平方米，完成做地面积2417亩，完成土地出让1221亩。
一幅以兰亭文旅为核心，兰亭平水两新城、南部美丽乡村风情带为整体布局的幸福图景正在徐徐展开。
春秋时期，越王勾践在兰渚山下遍植兰草，古越文化于此扎根；1600多年前，王羲之与42位文人雅士临流赋诗，书法文化于此发扬，与之相伴而生的还有兰文化……在漫长的历史中，兰亭孕育出内容丰富、形式多样的地域文化。
而今，坐拥得天独厚人文资源的兰亭，如何契合新时代发展需要，推动文化繁荣兴盛，让兰亭声名远播？
“坚持挖潜、保护、开发三措并举，打造‘世界级兰亭IP’，推进整个文旅产业进一步提档升级，形成‘长尾效应’，扩大品牌知名度和影响力。”兰亭度假区管委会副主任陈月芳表示，兰亭度假区正以整体推进、融合共促为思路，着重整合5镇街特色文旅资源，沉浸式打造文化旅游高地。
位于兰渚山西麓的兰花博物馆项目现场，建设前期准备工作已完成，待施工招标后即可进场开工。项目负责人裴泽明介绍，博物馆毗邻绍兴花市，计划总投资2.5亿元，建造“一馆多中心”，其中一期规划建设主馆，二期规划建设兰花科研中心、文化创意中心、数字交易中心、公共品牌中心等功能区域。该项目建设后，将为兰花产业集聚升级注入强劲动力。
兰亭度假区内文物古迹众多，一砖一瓦都是文化，山山水水皆有故事。围绕古越文化，在规划打造越文化遗址公园的同时，推进印山越国王陵、平水越国贵族墓群等考古遗址公园建设，促使古越文脉生生不息；立足书法文化，兰亭中国书画村、书法客厅、书法绿道等项目呼之欲出，不断擦亮“书法圣地”这块金字招牌。
打响“世界级兰亭IP”，不仅要让兰亭景致看得见，还要让兰亭故事传出去。兰亭度假区与各镇街协同，通过举办香约梅海文化旅游节、冢斜古村文化旅游节等节庆和推介活动，让文化可理解、可分享。尤为值得一提的是，今年2月，第三届中国春兰节期间，一系列“央地合作”成果圈粉无数，通过20多家全国性重点媒体和宣传平台进行报道，赚足了人气和热度。
1600多年前的兰亭天朗气清、惠风和畅，吸引众多文人墨客汇聚，造就了兰亭雅集的盛况。如今的兰亭，正在加快塑造“环境更美丽、文艺更复兴、产业更发达、生活更幸福”的城市形象，聚力打造最有文化度假区，谱写新时代兰亭雅集。
