On October 24, 2024, the 7th World Textile Merchants Conference was held in Keqiao District under the theme “Fashion Horizon, New Quality Future.” Wu Jing, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, and Vice President of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, delivered a speech. Shi Huifang, Secretary of the Shaoxing Municipal Committee, and Kanat Jumagaziev, Governor of Chu River Region of the Kyrgyz Republic, also made remarks. Sun Ruizhe, President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, and Christopher Pissarides, 2010 Nobel Prize Laureate in Economic Sciences, gave keynote speeches. City leaders, including Tan Zhigui and Ma Guocan, also participated.
Wu Jing congratulated the successful hosting of the conference. She stated that the textile industry is a traditional pillar industry of Zhejiang Province and an essential sector for the livelihoods of the people. In recent years, the province has made remarkable progress in advancing the textile industry towards new quality productivity by thoroughly implementing the important thoughts and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping. This year’s conference, focusing on technological innovation, fashion empowerment, green development, and open cooperation, explored strategies and actions to empower the global textile industry’s high-quality development, which is of great significance. She expressed hope that the conference would create a platform for communication between textile enterprises and international companies and industry elites, promoting further open collaboration, innovative cooperation, and smart collaboration in the industry. She encouraged Keqiao District to continue expanding its global vision, innovate industry development strategies, and accelerate the transformation of the “textile market, textile industry, and textile innovation” into three major competitive advantages, contributing to Zhejiang’s goal of becoming a pioneering force and creating a new chapter in the province’s growth.
Shi Huifang welcomed all the distinguished leaders and guests attending the conference. He stated that as a strong modern textile city, Shaoxing would firmly implement the important thoughts and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and vigorously implement the “Five Major Strategies” of technological textiles, digital textiles, cultural textiles, green textiles, and open textiles. The city aims to revitalize the textile industry with new industrialization and new quality productivity, striving to establish the Hangzhou Bay modern textile and apparel advanced manufacturing cluster, and build a global textile industry hub for headquarters economy, creative design, emerging industries, and trade exhibitions. He also expressed hopes that the distinguished guests would visit Shaoxing to experience the city’s cultural charm and draw design inspiration, working together to create a new era of cooperation and exchanges in the textile industry, and building a bright future for the global textile industry based on mutual benefit, shared interests, and interconnected growth.
Kanat Jumagaziev expressed gratitude for the warm invitation from the conference organizers. He shared that Chu River Region is one of the major economic areas of Kyrgyzstan and a crucial logistics hub connecting China with Central Asia and Europe. Under the Belt and Road Initiative, the cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China, especially in the textile and apparel industry, has yielded fruitful results. He highlighted that the collaboration with Keqiao District within the framework of the 2024 7th World Textile Merchants Conference will open new horizons for Kyrgyzstan’s light industry development and become a significant driving force for economic growth and attracting investments.
At the conference, the “Keqiao District Textile Industry Development Report” and the “2025 Global Textile Industry Trend Outlook Report” were released. Additionally, Keqiao District’s major fashion industry projects were introduced and signed, and the launch ceremony for the International Textile Association’s China Cooperation Center was held.

会上发布了柯桥区纺织产业发展成果报告、2025全球纺织行业趋势展望报告，开展柯桥区重大时尚产业项目集中推介和签约活动，举行国际纺织协会中国合作中心启动仪式。
